Workout 25 - Run/Trike

I walked the dog and then went for a 2.5 mile run. It was a beautiful day. My running legs are starting to come back a little, but the pounding on the pavement really feels harsh. Hopefully I will get used to it in a couple of weeks of daily running.

After breakfast I did a 24 mile bike ride around LBK and was quite tired when I returned home. I took an hour nap.

Workout 24 - Trike - 16 miles

Today was a light day. I rode 5 miles before breakfast and than another 11 miles with my wife in the afternoon. I took the camera, but left the storage card at home, so the camera was useless.

Workout 23 - Run and Trike

It was a beautiful day with light winds and clear skies. I ran 2.5 miles and felt pretty good. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel with my running, but the tunnel is pretty long at this point.

I had breakfast, did a little work and then headed out on my trike for a 22 mile ride to St. Armand's Circle, South Lido Park, Bird Key and then back home. I got some nice pictures. The homes are Bird Key mansions.

Workout 22 - Run and Trike

My running leaves a lot to be desired. I am not used to the pounding. My legs do not feel comfortable yet. I finished 2 miles, but I am awful slow. It'll be fun to progress.

The trike ride was nice. Although it was still cold today, the skies were clear and sunny. I rode 1 full lap around LBK, 24 miles. Took some nice pictures of the peacocks in the Village.

Workout 21 - Run and Trike

I got the itch to start running again today. Maybe it is due to the cold weather that has overtaken Longboat Key. Running is more fun in cold, windy weather than riding my trike.

I ran 2 miles around Corey's Landing, where our home is located. That's a short run, but since I haven't run in over 2 years, not bad. And, I felt pretty good, although my legs felt squirrly on the hard pavement. It will take awhile to get my running legs back. I felt no symptoms from the hip surgery of last year, which is a very good sign that my recovery is complete, or near complete.

My goal is to build up to 25 miles per week by the time we return to Atlanta in early May.

I also did 18 miles on my trike following the run. The combo felt like a really good cardio workout.

Workout 20 - Rollerblading

I tried rollerblading for the first time in over 5 years. I was cleaning my trike and while rummaging through one of the closets in the garage, came upon my rollerblades. These are high quality 5 wheel racing blades. I used to blade all over Longboat Key, which is flat, with smooth pavement...ideal for blading.

I was really unsteady at first needing to regain my blading legs and balance. When I went down one very shallow decline in the pavement I lost my balance and ended up falling, hitting my side, head and left hand on the pavement. Nothing serious, but my hand is sore, as is my left rib cage. That'll teach me.

After I got up, I continued on for another 45 minutes or so staying clear of traffic. Towards the end I was starting to feel comfortable on the rollerblades, but it will take me several sessions before I am back to my previous form.

Workout 19 - Trike/Core Strength Training - 18 miles

Today was nonstop rain and cloudiness as evidence from the pictures. Not a pleasant ride. I not only got soaked, but my cellphone died from the wetness. An expensive ride.

50 ab crunches
